Interview with Guest Elizabeth Schecter

On Friday, August 22, Heather Dewey Pettet interviewed Elizabeth Schecter on Heather’s YouTube channel. Heather and Elizabeth talked about a subject that is close to their hearts: Disability and Diversity in SFF.

Prior to the interview, Heather did the Necro News segment, and talked about Necronomicon Tampa, and the guests that have been confirmed as of the time of the live stream. There are many guests coming to Necronomicon in September, that have confirmed... Necronomicon’s many guests include Timothy Zahn, the Star Wars novelist, and author Seanan McGuire, who has won awards with her SFF writing. Necronomicon also hosts many local authors, who will be selling their works in person, including Richard Lee Byers, Kat Heckenbach, and many others.

Then Heather and Elizabeth talked about the subject of disability and diversity, as it pertains to representation and writing characters. Their discussion then moved on to Necronomicon Tampa, and Elizabeth and Heather’s experiences participating as a guest over the last several years, and Necro.

Necronomicon Tampa, which takes place the weekend of September 26-28, includes vendors, cosplay, gaming, and guests, including authors and artists. Since 2021, Necronomicon Tampa has been held at the Embassy Suites at USF, on the main campus in Tampa, Florida.
