No Smoking - The hotel, the State of Florida, and Necronomicon have instituted a no-smoking policy. The only places where con members may smoke are designated areas outside. This ban includes e-cigs and vaping devices.

Weapons - No real weapons, bladed weapons, or simulated weapons that can shoot a projectile are allowed. If it looks like a real gun, it's not allowed. All hall costume weapons and props must be approved by a member of the Necronomicon staff. If you have a weapon on your hall costume, you are NOT allowed to carry it in your hands; it MUST remain in the holster/sheath or similar. No real guns, including those with a concealed permit.

Harassment - Harassment is any behavior that intentionally annoys or alarms another person. This includes unwanted physical contact, following someone around, rude, suggestive, or insulting comments, or otherwise infringing on their personal liberties or space. Harassment will not be tolerated at Necronomicon. If you approach someone and they tell you "no" or to leave them alone, your business with them is done. If you do not leave them alone as they have requested, your actions are grounds for a complaint of harassment.

If you feel that you are being harassed, report the matter immediately to convention staff or security. After you report the matter, one board member and two department heads will meet with you in private for details. If the offense is serious enough, the police will be called in and the matter turned over to them.

We’ll then do our best to find the person doing the harassment. The person who was reported will be given a chance to offer their side of the story to the staff. The staff will then decide if the offender should be removed from the convention. The person who makes the report will be informed of the decision.

Badges - ID badges must be worn prominently on the front of clothing and above the waist at all times. Anyone without a badge will be refused access.

Behavior and costumes must adhere to Hillsborough County decency laws.

Quiet time, except for the first floor, is 10 pm to 9 am. For the comfort and convenience of all hotel guests, during these hours you are required to keep noise to a minimum on all sleeping floors.

Disorderly Conduct- No running, yelling, fighting, or damaging the hotel and/or convention property will be tolerated. Drunken or disorderly conduct in the Necronomicon function space will result in the member being escorted to their room or removed from the hotel.

Alcohol shall not be dispensed in public or function areas in the hotel, except by authorized hotel or Necronomicon staff.

Signs - Signs may not be posted except on convention bulletin boards. No signs may be posted in the elevators, on the walls, or on room doors. Bulletin boards and thumbtacks are available at the registration desk.

Damage to the hotel jeopardizes our ability to put on future conventions. To ensure that there will be another Necronomicon, please report any acts of vandalism to the hotel or convention staff.

Art Show and Artist Alley

At last, the 2024 Necronomicon Art Show is open for space reservations and payment!

https://www.ticketleap.events/.../2024-necronomicon-art-show If you have been with us in the past, the entire Art Show registration process is new this year. I am using Ticket Leap to register and take payment at the same time. No need for approvals in order to buy space. We have the usual Tables and Panels, plus half tables in the Book Shop and Print Shop.

We can accept shipped art. Please contact me for more information if you would like to send your art without attending the convention.

The Artist Alley tables worked out well last year, so we will have them again. These are also available via the same Ticket Leap site as the regular art show. Artist Alley spaces do not include convention membership, although one is required.

Gamng - GMs and Gamers

Gaming at Necronomicon is a great way to spend downtime between panels and events, or your whole weekend. We offer a wide selection of games that can be checked out from the game library as well as our Play-To-Win games. Following the conclusion of gaming we also hold the Survivors Raffle where we give away free prizes for anyone who sticks out through the end of the convention.

When is Gaming open? Our space is available for games from 10 am on Friday until 4pm on Sunday

Who is gaming open to? Anyone with a valid convention badge is welcome within gaming, including the library and raffle.

Is gaming limited to board games? NO! Tabletop games of many kinds are welcome, including but not limited to board games, card games, trading card games, and tabletop RPGs. If it is something more interactive it may fit better in our LARP area.

There’s a game library but can I still bring my own games to play? Absolutely, just pick an open table and play away. Please be mindful of the gaming schedule though, as tables are reserved at certain times for GMs that plan ahead.

Is there a schedule of games people can sign up for? On the website, under “Convention Schedule” you can find a list of all the games GMs have signed up to run at the convention.

Can I sign up to run a game? You can, either through the “create your own panel or event” button under the “convention schedule” tab on our website, or by emailing gaming@necrofl.org for more detailed instructions.

How do the Play-to-Win games work? You check them out of the game library, then play them in the game room, when you sign them back in you will be entered in a drawing to win them. Names are drawn on Sunday starting at 4pm in the game room after gaming has closed, and you MUST BE PRESENT to win.

What is the Survivors Raffle? A free raffle that takes place in the game room after the convention has ended, where we give out all sorts of things, gaming related and not. You MUST BE PRESENT to win, starting at 4pm on Sunday.

Live Action Role Play

What is a LARP? A live-action, role-playing situation where the participants physically portray their characters. The players pursue goals within a fictional setting represented by real-world environments while interacting with each other in character. The outcome of player actions may be mediated by game rules or determined by consensus among players. Event arrangers called gamemasters decide the setting and rules to be used and facilitate play.

At Necronomicon, a LARP may take place in a single dedicated room or encompass the hotel's public areas as their field of play. The game duration can range from short regularly spaced timeslots (rounds) to a number of hours or days, depending on the type of event being held. If your idea of gaming goes beyond sitting around a table and rolling dice, you may want to give LARPing a try.

How to Join a LARP Necronomicon has two types of LARPs this year: Show up and Play,  and the Vampire LARP.

For Show-up and Play - These are all games played in a single room for a certain amount of time. Check the schedule, show up at the door to the LARP room and join the game! Super easy.

For the Vampire Game - This is an all-weekend game that requires signup in advance. The good news is because the game has multiple layers, a member can join anytime. Sign-up sheets for this game will be at a table opposite the registration desk.

The Great I Scream Social and Yard Sale

Do you like all things geek? Like ice cream? Love to spend money at a yard sale? Love to spend money on a great charity?

Sunday from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm in the main room – the Fifth Annual (actually number 35) Necronomicon Yard Sale and I Scream Social.

Come have some ice cream snacks while buying all kinds of cool stuff donated by our lovely members!

Each table will be marked with a price for items on that table. All books are the same price no matter which table they end up on. We have t-shirts, costume items, jewelry, DVDs, games, books, and who knows what else.

Tables will be marked - $2, $5, $10, and $20.

Paperbacks - .25

Hardbacks / trade paper - $1.00

DVDs - $1.00

The $20 is mostly framed art.

But we don’t want you to miss out on the fun part of a yard sale. So, make a pile, we’ll add it up and then you can argue to give us more! (Yeah, more, because it is for charity!) And always tell us to round up.

We will be taking credit cards and cash. You can stack up things behind the table while you gather more loot. Bring a bag as we only have a few bags and boxes to let you haul stuff away.

Harassment Policy

Harassment is any behavior that intentionally annoys or alarms another person. This includes unwanted physical contact, following someone around, rude, suggestive, insulting, demeaning comments, or otherwise infringing on their personal liberties or space. Harassment will not be tolerated at Necronomicon.

If you approach someone for any reason and they tell you "no" or to leave them alone, your business with them is done. If you do not leave them alone as they have requested, your actions are grounds for a complaint of harassment.
