Interview with Deb Hicks - SouthernMediaCon and Necronomicon Game Days

On Friday, May 16, Heather Dewey Pettet interviewed our own Debra Hicks on Heather’s YouTube channel. During the interview, Heather and Debra and Heather discussed SouthernMediaCon, the "little sister con" to Necronomicon Tampa.

During the interview, Heather and Debra discussed both events, as well as Debra’s long history with volunteer work through Stonehill Science Fiction Fan Club. Stonehill is the nonprofit organization that operates both Necronomicon Tampa and SouthernMediaCon.

SouthernMediaCon, which takes place the weekend of June 20-22, includes Necro Gaming days, which is aimed at gamers who like trading card games such as Pokemon, as well as board games and RPGs, or role playing games. The Necronomicon gaming library includes such games as the classic game Catan, Lords of Vaala, Wyrmspan, family games such as Ticket to Ride, and even double-six dominoes. Also, the library also shows what games are play-to-win or not, so gamers can be prepared ahead of time. Prizes are awarded to winners.

This year, SouthernMediaCon is being held in Clearwater, Florida, at the Holiday Inn and Suites on U.S. 19. Weekend-long badges are $75, and Saturday-ony badges are $40. Sunday-only badges are $20.
